We want to provide as much certainty as possible to players and parents, and we are committed to deliver this event wherever possible. Here are a few important things to note:
A relay is a team event, where teams compete in ties, made up of matches in which a match begins at the preceding matches score. Players are assigned to teams to ensure each team is of similar ability.
The event will be open entry to all junior players aged 13 and above, with players entering as individuals not teams. Players will be assigned into division/team based on their ability.
The tie format and team size will be composed of the following events: 2x BS, 2x GS, 1x BD, 1x GD, 2x XD. Teams will be made up of 3 boys and 3 girls (wherever possible), which allows for 2 games per player, per tie.
Following the close of entry, selectors from each association will rank all players in order of ability. Organisers/selectors will then assign players to a team, ensuring each team is of similar ability.
Each team will be nominate 2 captains (1x boy, 1x girl) who will be responsible for submitting their team lists, completing the tie sheet, ensuring players understand what is taking place and equal game opportunities.
Teams will not be seeded as each will be of similar ability. Organisers will create a round robin draw based on the number of teams entered.
Team Captains will be required to submit their team nomination list at a time advised by organisers. Team Captains must ensure that each player is nominated to play at least one match, unless injured or ill.
