WHAT IS A BOX CHALLENGE?
Players are divided into boxes of 4 or 5. Players in each box will play against each other player in the box. Scoring shall be the best of three (3) games to 21 points with no extension, (this could change with digression of tournament organisers due to a large number of entries). The winner of each box each week will be promoted to the next highest box for the following week’s event. The loser of each box will be relegated to the next lowest box for the following week’s event.
WHEN IS IT STARTING?
The first week starts 1st July and ends 5th August. This competition will be weekly with the Open Grade Singles Box Challenge competition on other courts. Play starts at 7.00pm sharp. The lights will go out at 10.00pm on all nights of play with a few courts continuing until 11pm to enable long ties to finish play.
HOW DO I WIN?
A player will receive 20 points for each match won, plus an extra 15 points for winning their box on the night they played. These points will be kept on a tally sheet which will be displayed on the notice board behind the courts and published on our website.
WHAT IF I CANT MAKE ONE WEEK?
It is player's responsibility to find a replacement should they become unavailable. A player/pair who defaults their games because of failure to appear will be charged a penalty fee of $20.00. This amount will be invoiced to the player/pair who defaulted.
ADDITIONAL INFO.
A reasonable number of shuttles will be provided for each night of play. If there are insufficient shuttles to finish the nights play, players will need to provide the shortfall.
Non-Members of Wellington North Badminton Association are required to pay an additional $20
Players do not need to be a registered member of the association.
If an event does not get the minimum required number of entries, we will let players know before the first week of competition and issue a refund to those players.
